I hope this link works this time…I wish I could edit my post rather than having to attempt in a separate one!

To be remembered, and not only that, but to become an icon after such a short career (and life) is a testament to the extraordinary ability James Dean had as an actor. He didn’t play Jim Stark, Cal Trask, and Jett Rink…He became them and introduced us to them in finite detail. Minute facial expressions, the flicker of his eyes, the twitch of a cheek muscle…I don’t believe any of it was accidental. He showed the angst of teenage life that teens were unable to express in a more rigid time. He showed us raw emotion and unapologetically bad behaviours.
James Dean has been immortalized for his craft and his “cool”. In music, books, movies, his name is often spoken. I am convinced this is not only because he was such a tremendous actor, but because even as he introduced us to characters, James Dean showed through in a way that made us feel we knew him personally.
